The Challenge
City Skate Center needed a modern, mobile-friendly website to better connect with its local community. The old site was outdated, needed to reflect the energy or vibe of the skating experience.
The Solution
-
Color Palette: I went with bold neons and high-contrast tones to match the retro skating rink vibe — think party lights and energy. The bright palette also appeals to younger skaters and families.
-
Layout & Hierarchy: The layout is clean and responsive, with key info like hours, pricing, and events front and center. I used clear call-to-actions and a consistent visual rhythm to guide users.
-
Navigation: Simplified the nav to focus on what users actually come for — “Skate Times,” “Book a Party,” and “Contact.” Schools & Events
-
Imagery: I chose energetic, in-action imagery featuring real skaters and families to make the experience feel local, real, and welcoming. Movement and people having fun were key themes.
-
Typography: A mix of bold headers and clean body text for contrast — playful but still readable on all devices.

My Role
I led the full redesign of the site — from wireframes and color palette to final build. My goal was to create a fun, easy-to-use experience that felt as fast and dynamic as skating itself. I focused on user experience, brand personality, and clear structure.
Results
My work in redesigning City Skate Center's website focused on improving navigation, user flows, and content hierarchy, while refreshing the look and feel to create a more welcoming and friendly experience. The site now works beautifully across mobile, tablet, and desktop.
