The Challenge

Busy 9-to-5 pet owners often struggle to meet the daily needs of their pets, leading to stress for both the owner and the animal. There was a gap in the market for a centralized app that could help manage pet care efficiently while owners are at work.

The Solution

I designed a multi-service mobile app that connects pet parents with on-demand services like dog walking, feeding reminders, playtime check-ins, pet cam monitoring, and more. Through extensive research and user testing, I created a clean and friendly interface that streamlines daily pet care.

As the lead UI/UX designer, I was responsible for user research, wireframing, prototyping, and creating the visual identity of the app. I focused on understanding the unique needs of at-home pets and their working parents to deliver an intuitive and compassionate user experience..

Empathy Phase

This phase is all about understanding the user. When designing, the researcher + team must keep in mind that the user always comes first. Is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. The empathic process can be conceptualized as a three-phase time-sequenced process.

Qualitative Research

The questions I asked during for the google form was a series of 30+ questions.

  • What type of pet do you have?

  • Any outside/inside Animals?

  • Have you ever used a special app for your pet for working a full time job?

  • Do you like special apps for your pets?

  • Do you use any resources to find cheaper services such as grooming, vet bills, dog walking?

  • What challenges do you face when working from a 9-5pm job while your pet is at home?

Quantitative Research

As doing my white paper research, I found information coming from secondary resources about  focused on at home pets, aiming at all nessary resources for pet parents to have full service recourses.. I started with secondary research such as articles, websites  Based on my founds I found out that: While the love of a pet is priceless, the cost of owning one is not. Veterinary care, grooming, food, treats and other outlays can add up quickly. A Forbes Advisor analysis found that essential dog expenses cost an average of $1,533 annually.

The define phase or design thinking. This is collecting data from the first stage and implementing it into empathy maps, personas, journey maps and a competitive analysis. This phase also helps define the user’s problem.

Meet the Personas

Personas represent the entirety of a user's journey. Also, it helps the ux design understand the users a little bit more. They are also great because they aren’t bias.

Ideate Phase

This phase involves generating ideas. It involves sketching the user flow, concept generation and logo idea for the app. Creating alot of different ideas for the app design to address the problem statement. Focusing on solutions quality over quanity.

Concept:

Multi-Service pet app for international pet care specialists. Locate pet services near you right at a click of a button. Show a cat and dog because it symbolizes that these two animals can be pals as well. The app is all about having a friend while your pet parent is away, and giving the best care possible.
